On Wednesday 16th December the Tone School Sports Partnership held a training day for 120 of the areas most talented leaders in Years 6 – 9. Pupils were nominated by their school because they had reached a high standard of leadership, were confident, motivated leaders who are keen to volunteer and would benefit from some training to help take them onto a new level of leadership.

The day was planned by Chris Ray from Taunton based company Vision and Performance and was designed to give some intensive and highly enjoyable training for the leaders to increase their leadership skills. The aims of the day were to enable the participants to be more competent in communication, organisation, teamwork and become more skilled leaders as a result. It was truly an awe inspiring day, with the leaders surpassing all expectations and making the staff realise yet again how truly capable these leaders are.

A bi-product of the day was that 40 leaders were selected to go onto a Somerset Gifted and Talented Leadership Academy where the cream of Somerset’s leaders will attend four challenging days to really hone their leadership skills and enable them to reach unprecedented levels of leadership for children their age.
