Sports Hall Athletics winners |
 Bishop Henderson School celebrated winning the Tone School Sports Partnership primary school year 5&6 sports hall athletics competition in February.
19 schools and over 220 young people competed in a number of events such as speed bounce, javelin, triple jump and running at the competitions kindly hosted by Kings College.
The event was run by Andy Richards, Somerset Competition Managers and supported by Young Apprentices from Castle and Bishop Fox’s School.
Those young people who excelled within in each events, were invited to trial for the Somerset County Sports Hall Athletics team, with several going onto represent Somerset and compete against other South West counties.

|
To support schools ability to run more extra-curricular clubs and meet the governments school target of providing an extra hour of physical activity we have trained up 60+ Further Education students in delivering Fundamentals/ Top Activity / Multi-sport clubs. Many have NGB qualifications also in specific sports. There are some excellent leaders that have signed up to come into schools.
We have also a bank of Qualified Community Coaches and community leisure centre staff that are available.

Tone School Sports Partnership Leadership Training Day |
|
On Wednesday 16th December the Tone School Sports Partnership held a training day for 120 of the areas most talented leaders in Years 6 – 9. Pupils were nominated by their school because they had reached a high standard of leadership, were confident, motivated leaders who are keen to volunteer and would benefit from some training to help take them onto a new level of leadership.

Gifted and Talented pupils in the Taunton Deane and West Somerset area have attended a series of moderation and development academies organised by the Tone School Sports Partnership.
Just over 250 Yr 5 pupils have attended moderation sessions run by the partnerships Sports Coordinators and about 100 pupils being selected to attend future cluster academies.

Top Activity / Active Lifestyle coaches trained |
Over the last 2 months 55 students from Somerset College, Richard Huish and West Somerset Community College have been trained as Top Activity and Active lifestyle coaches. The aim is to get the students to support and run Multi-Sport / Activity after school clubs in both primary and first schools. The focus is to increase participation for those pupils not engaged by the diet of traditional sports, especially in years 1 to 4. Activities included ultimate Frisbee, seated volleyball, Tri golf, cheerleading, body combat, dance, circus skills and skipping.”
